NEW YORK OPERA STAR TO VISIT GREYMOUTH
Described as what is probably one of the most important musical events in the Dominion since Lawrence Tibbett visited this country some years prior to the war, the arrival in New Zealand of Herta Glaz, a star of the New York Metropolitan Opera has attrac'.d considerable attention. She will give a recital ar Greymouth next month, the first time that an international star has performed on the West Coast, and will be accompained by Dr. Otto Kelmperer, one of America’s wellknown conductors.
The visit to ’Greymouth has been arranged in the nature of an experiment to ascertain whether it will be economical for to bring such stars- to the West Coast in the future. This will be the first time that a visiting artist of such merit has given recitals outside the main centres in New Zealand.
Special arrangements for musical students to hear Herta Glaz have been provided, and they will be able to gain admission at an extremely cheap rate.
