SANCTIONS MAY BE IMPOSED ON SLAVS
If They Further Aid Greek Guerrillas
(Rec. 11.10). LONDON, May 22. The Daily Telegraph’s Geneva correspondent says: Nine of the eleven nations represented on the United Nations Balkans Commission have agreed that, should any further active aid be given by Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania to the Greek guerrillas, action should taken under Chapter 7 of the U.N.O. Charter, namely the “enforcement” chapter which is one providing for economic, diplomatic and military sanctions. It is the first time that the possibility of using this chapter has been suggested. The dissenting nations are Russia and Poland. LONDON, May 21. During the past few weeks a steady stream of refugees has been pouring from Yugoslavia through Hungary (Russian zone) into Styria in the British zone, says the Daily Telegraph’s Graz correspondent. There is every appearance that the Yugoslavs, with Hungarian and Russian connivance, are attempting to “dump” thousands of unwanted persons on the British and the Austrians. Most of them are Yugoslavs of German origin who have been gathered in concentration camps. After many months' confinement they are being “allowed” to escape for about 15. They are taken in motor trucks then to the Hungarian border. Officials at the British zone displaced persons’ camp are seriously alarmed as their resources are already strained.
