WEDDING

BAIRD—MOODIE The wedding took place recently at. St. Paul’s Presbyterial Church Christchurch, of Douglas Frederick, younger son of Mr J. and the late Mrs Baird of Rosstown, Reefton, and Elizabeth Johnston (Betty- elder daughter O; Mr and Mrs D. S. Moodie of Timaru and formerly of Wataroa. South Westland. The bride, escorted by her father, wore a classical gown of off-white figured satin, featuring a tight-fitting bodic- 1 with scalloped vee-shapeo neckline, and long sleeves. The softly draped skirt fell to form a full train and a long embroidered veil fell from a coronet of orange blossom to form a second train. The shower bouquet was of white gladioli and chrysanthemums. Mrs Mary Marslin (Otane) attended her sister as matron of honour and Miss Pearl Shepherd (Christchruch) was bridesmaid. They wore matching frocks of blue, made with tight-fitting bodice, low waistline and full skirts. The bouquets were of dark red roses, gladioli and daises and they wore trellised caps of matching material. Messrs E. Baird (Reefton) and W. Baird (Wellington) attended their brother as best man and groomsman respectively. Messrs J. Moodie (Balclutha) brother of the bride and I. Baird (Greymouth) were the ushers. The Rev. Stuart Francis officiated. During the signing of the register, Miss B. Griffiths sang “Because.”

At the wedding reception, held at the Mayfair Lounge, Mrs Moodie, the bride’s mother, received her guests wearing a navy two-piece suit with accessories' to tone. Mrs E. T. Baird sistef-in-law of the bridegroom, assisted the hostess, her frock being a two’-piece suit in brown. Mrs Hughes (Balclutha) and Mr W. Baird (Wellington) sang solos during the reception.

The brMe travelled in a grey striped costume with wine accessories. Mr and Mrs Baird will make their home in Christchurch.
