WALL STREET SLUMP CAUSES SELLING
(Rec. 9.40). NEW YORK, May 17. There was heavy selling on today’s stock market. It forced down stocks to the lowest prices since January, 1945. The 'turnover was 980 thousand shares. This was the highest for any Saturday session for over a year. ’ The selling spread to all of the industrial groups. In these some of the leaders lost one to three points.
