FATAL ACCIDENTS
P.A. AUCKLAND, May 18. Injuries, from which he later died, were received by an elderly man, who collided with a light truck on Saturday night. He was George Edward Cain, aged 75, retired tailor, of Cnehunga. The accident occurred during the black-out period. A member of a fishing party in Hauraki Gulf was drowned to-day when a dinghy from which he was fishing capsized. He was William Wills, aged 50, tally clerk. He was with a party on board a launch anchored near Tiri Island shortly before mid-day, and Wills and another man fished from a dinghy attached by a 25-yard rope to the launch. Later it was noticed that the dinghy was adrift, but before the launch could regain it, it had capsized. By the time the launch had picked up the two men, Wills was unconscious. Artificial respiration was applied, without success, and he died oefore the launch could return to Auckland. There was a fairly heavy swell running in the gulf. CHRISTCHURCH, May 17.
