RABAUL, May 15. After the 'trial lasting for more than two weeks, a War Crimes Court at Rabaul to-day . found General' Hitoshi Irnamura, former G.0.C., Japanese Eighteenth Army in New Britain, and at one time commander of all the Japanese troops in New Guinea and the Solomons, guiltyon a charge of failing in his duty as commander in that troops under his command committed brutal atrocities and other high crimes against Allied nationals. General Irnamura was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment.
