TABLE TENNIS World Champions’ Tour of N.Z. Is Cancelled

There will be nd tour of New Zealand this season by leading table tennis players, B. Vana (Czechoslovakia) the world’s champion. V. Barna (England), former title holder, R. Miles, American champion, and L. Pagliaro, another U.S. ace. This information has been received by Mr Norman Ballinger, secretary of the N.Z.T.T.A. The four planned to make a world tour, which was to have included New Zealand, but transport difficulties, coupled with the refusal of the U.SA. authorities

to release Miles and Pagliaro during the’’ American championships, and Barna’s inability to spare more than six months for the trip have necessitated a postponement until next year. NEXT WEEK’S FIXTURES The following fixtures have been laid down for matches to be played in the second round fo the Greymouth Table Tennis Union’s competition next week: — A grade.—Woolworths v. Loco; Grey Tennis v. United (1); United (2) v. Customs; P.&.T. v. Runanga. B grade.—Grey Tennis v. Woolworths; Air Force Association v. Loco Despatch v. Aero Club; Runanga v. P. & T.; United v. Colomba.

C grade.—United v. Air Force Association; Grey Tennis v. Colomba; Loco v. Despatch; Woolworths a bye.
