Wicks, reported that the attendance for March averaged about 91 per cent.. He did not think this was particularly good in view of the fact that the weather was excellent anl sickness was not prevalent. A relieving teacher has been appointed for this period. The board’s architect, Mr J. Bigg visited the school last week to discuss the plans for the new playground lay-out. He also approved of the proposed alterations to the infants’ cloak room and the provision of furniture for the teachers’ room in the new block.

It was decided to purchase a set of the New Universal Encyclopaedia for the use of the children in the upper classes. The headmaster was asked to notify the residents that the weekly euchre parties would be restarted on Wednesday, April 16. Two of the committee members who had attended the Brunner School’s sports held on Taylorville Domain, stated that it had been a most successful function and it was to be hoped that it would become an annual event. The school was now very well equipped with sports material, cricket, tennis and rounders being specially popular. The Rev. W. S. Brettell, of ■’Runanga is attending meetings of the Assembly Youth Committee in Christchurch as a representative of the Westland Presbytery. He will return by rail car on Friday morning.
