Stockton Miner Wins Compensation Claim
A claim by Eric Emith, a miner of Stockton, for £4 10s a week compensation from November 15, 1945, . foi injuries to his right elbow received oii March 31, 1944, while he was using a drilling machine at his woik for the Westport-Stockton Coal Company, was settled last week. In a written decision of the Compensation Court, Mr. Justice Ongley entered judgment for the plaintiff against the company, as for a nonschedule injury for the balance of •the period from November 15, and gave an allowance of £l5 15s costs. The case was heard on September 6 last year at Westport and on September 12 at Christchurch. Smith was represented by Mr. W. D. Taylor (Greymouth). Mr. J. W. Hannan appeared for the defence.
