ARMY OFFICER CANDIDATES’ ■ COURSES WELLINGTON, March 24. Army headquarters, announcing the recent completion of the first of the regular force officer candidate’s courses at Trentham, states the course was full and exacting, and the standard set was high. Commenting on the course, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Brigadier W, G. Gentry, who acted as commandant, said that probably the outstanding feature of the course was hard work put in by all candidates. “We set a high standard, and those who have been recommended for commission in the regular forces should be representatives,” he said. “They wil be a very welcome addition to our depleted ranks.” Headquarters states the results of the course are most satisfactory, and successful candidates who accept commissions offered them will be announced early in April. A feature of the course was an execellent .series of lectures given by authorities on their subjects on current affairs and modern scientific developments.
