AERO CLUB FINE PERFORMANCE FOR FIRST SOLO

A highlight of the recent activities of the West Coast United Aero Club was the very fine performance put up by Mr Ken Paterson in making his first solo flight. Mr Paterson was the first club trained pilot to solo since flying was resumed and achieved this honour after only 4 hours 25 minutes instruction, ably given by Mr N. Suttie of Air Travel, who has been acting as part-time Instructor to the club. This is a very fine performance indeed, especially considering the fact that his ins! ruction has been at irregular intervals over the past five months. This creditable effort should be an incentive to many who have considered learning to fly, age being no disadvantage. This should also dispel the idea that it is expensive to learn, as tuition can be arranged to suit one’s pocket. The average time taken to solo is between 5 and 8 hours.
