INDO CHINA WAR.
VIETNAMESE WANT PEACE (Rec. 7.35). NEW YORK, Feb. 27. The President of Vietnam, M. Hochiminh, has sent a letter to the French Government appealing for a cessation of hostilities in northern Indo-China, etnd proposing a return to the political relationship existing at the outbreak of .the fighting at Hanoi on December 19, says the New York Times Saigon correspondent. Extracts from the lettei’ state: “Each day this fratricidal war continues it multiplies griefs, and piles up ruins in this land. They say that French forces are employed only to re-establish peace and order. That is a lie. The truth is this: Where there are no French troops, there are no conflicts, and peace and order reign once again. We solemnly declare that the people of Vietnam wish only their
independence within the French Union, and we pledge ourselves to respect France’s economic and cultural interests. If, despite dur sincere desire for peace, France means to continue this war, we shall resist to the end".
