Continue Steady Climb TOTAL NOW OVER £32,000,000 Continuing on the high level they maintained through the year, Rehabilitation loan authorisations for December numbered 1652 valued at £1,574,795. The figures represent an advance of 117 valued at £131,123 over those for November. The advance is appreciable in view of the fact that it took place partly over the holiday period.
The total Rehabilitation loan authorisation was thus at the end of 194 G brought up to 40,935 and valued at £32.487,150. The current totals bringing up the figure of over £32,000.444 above, are accounted, foi' as follows: —Erection of homes 5078 loans valued at £7,157,181, purchase of homes 8324 valued at £8,259,648, establishment of farms 3332 valued at £12,817,390; establishment of businesses 4270 valued £2,440,688, furniture 18,800 valued at £1,729,203. tools of trade 978 valued at £32,616 and miscellaneous 243 valued at £50,42'4. A feature of recent monthly authorisation figures is that though some have shown, a tendency to maintain a ‘ fairly”"steady level, those made for the erection of homes have shown a consistent increase. For December (here were 407 loan authorisations for the erection of homes made to a vaue of £593,901, as compared with 342 valued at £503,901 for November,
which in turn demonstrated the same tendency carrying on from October when there were 292 valued at £418,372. This confident trend is in part accounted for by the 50 per cent, allocation for building timber made to ex-members of the forces for home building. The dccember authorisation for the purchase of existing dwellings were 328 valued at £342,911 as compared with 329 valued at £335,212 in November, figures which correspond very closely with those for the previous month.
Business loans with a slight increase of five to the value of £4.076 totalling 113 with a value of £75,670 for December. Again the figures in connection with farm loans 1 showed a very close correspondence with the previous month, being 121 and worth £499,943. Similarly interest-free furniture loans showed the small increase of 26 valued at close on £2OOO to bring the months total to 668 and £61,304; and interest-free 1 tools of trade loans were nine valued at £313 which too were very close to the previous month’s authorisations; miscellaneous authorisations were s ! x valued at £753, nearly twice those for November.
