LONGER HOURS And Extra Facilities P.A. WELLINGTON, Nov. 28. Motor Spirits Retail Hours Regulations, 1946, were gazetted to-night. They come into force on Su’nday next. They are intended to replace the Oil Fuel Retail Hours Emergency Regulatio'ns, 1942. The. new regulatajons allow taxis and other public passenger transport services and launches to obtain motor spirits at ,any time. There is provision for a fifty-nine hour week for the normal nurchasing of motor spirits. The purchasing hours will be: Between 7.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on four days; from 7.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the late night; and from 7.30 a.m. until noon on the half-holiday, with the fallowing exceptions: Stations to., be closed all day on Sundays, Christmas Day, Good Friday, Anzac Day; on other holidays they are to be open between 8 a.m. and 11/ a.m.. In addition on Christmas Eve and on the Thursday before Good Friday, motor spirit may be purchased up to 11 o’clock, at night One section of the regulations provides for the establishment by agreement between the Motor Unions and the resellers for emergency stations for the sale of motor, spirits that are urgently required outside of the normals hours, and these stations rriay be either special stations, established for the purpose, or existing stations to act as emergency stations on a roster basis These .emergency stations, where arranged for, will be confined to combined districts, namely, cities, boroughs and town districts. The regulations also provide that, where no emergency station is arranged, motor spirit that is urgently required may be purchased from any reseller in the district concerned. Urgent supplies of motor spirit can be obtained, however, only by signing a register. Provision is also made that where emergency stations are arranged sill other premises for the sale of motor spirit in those localities to exhibit a conspicuous notice showing the names and addresses of the particular emergency stations for the locality, together with a plan showing the location of such stations.
