ROME, Nov. 19.

Fishermen have deserted the scenic Lake Como because of a “a rosebrown monster more than 100 > feet long, with a great horn on its head and completely covered with gigantic scales,” which is reported to have overturned fishermen’s boats and thsn roared, dived, and disappeared. * Local inhabitants recall that the Italian writer, Polo Giovo, in his story of Lako Como, said the lake was the hiding-place of a Mastodontype 'giant fish which ripped fishermen’s nets.
