LEAGUE BANQUET [Our Own Correspondent] Fully 150 players and supporters attended the annual banquet of the Runanga Rugby League Club, held in the St. John Ambulance Hall on Saturday evening, Mr J. Hunter presiding. The West Coast Centre was represented by Messrs T. McKenzie, E. Pattinson and J. Kidd. A list of toasts were honoured in the customary manner. A cup donated by Mr T. Merriman jnr., for the most promising player during the season, was presented by the donor, to A. Summers, a member of the third grade team. Supporting the toast of St. Johns Ambulance Brigade. Mr T. McKenzie ( secretary of W.C.R.L.U.), emphasised that the splendid work done by members of the brigade was recognised and appreciated. Next vear, he said, provision was being made to establish a well-equipped ambulance room at Wingham Park. Music for a dance, which followed the banquet, was supplied by Marley’s Orchestra, extras being played by Mr Owen Hinks, while M? R. Thompson rendered two excellent 'vocal items, his accompanist being Mrs T. B. Jackson. The success of the evening was largely due to the efforts of the ladies committee.
