fOur Own Correspondent] Rev. Father Healy, parish priest of Ross, will celebrate Mass here on Sunday next. Messrs George Rowley and George Robertson of this district, have been appointed as Justices of the Peace. Mrs M. Cameron and daughter, of Wellington, who have been oh a visit here, have left on return.
Mrs G. Wright has returned from a visit to Greymouth. Mesdames Woodham and Mitchell have been on a visit to Greymouth. Mr Les Marriot, of Christchurch, is on a visit to the district.
A ball was held here on Saturday night to wind up the local funds of the, Patriotic Committee. A large number of visitors were present from the outlying districts. Music was supplied by Rene Jacobs’ Orchestra, whilst the duties of M.C. were in the hands of Mr W. McNabb. Mr and Mrs R. Rowley have been on a visit to the Grey district. Miss Condon, of Maitahi, South Wes.tland, has left for Christchurch. Mr Ned Kelly has been on a visit to Rimu for the week-end.
.Miss K. Smith, of Hokitika, was a visitor here for the week-end.
