ABOLITION OF FAMILY SYSTEM .PROPOSED TOKIO, August 23. Tokeyaski Kawashima, Professor of Law at the Imperial University, who is a member of a special Government Drafting Committee, announced that the committee would present to the Cabinet proposals to abolish the family system which, has, for centuries, been the basis of Japan’s social structure. The principal recommendations were the abolition of the institution of the head of the house, who usually is a male; an equitable distribution of inheritances and equal legal rights' for all members of the household. U.S.A. RELEASING LAST OF ITS PRISONERS IN AUSTRIA VIENNA, August 24. _ The United States Control Council has almost completed the discharge of the prisoners of war in its zone in Austria. It has released 358,280 prisoners' and still has in custody one thousand who are war crimes' suspects and who possibly are to be tried. Moscow radio reports that Marshal Tito has sent a Note to the Secretary General of the United Nations Organisation complaining of “unjustifiable retention” by American occupation forces of Danube tonnage owned by Yugoslavia. TEHERAN, August 22. The Government for no obvious reason imposed a curfew in Teheran •from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. The announcement asid the curfew is “by order of the Military Government.”
