DENNISTON NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent]. Mr. Bob Gardiner is an inmate of the Buller hospital. Elis many friends hope soon to see him home again. Mr. and Mrs. F. Morrison, jnr., of the North Island are visiting Mr. and Mrs. F. Morrison, senr.,. Burnett’s Face. Mr. Chappell of Christchurch, is relieving as operator at the local picture threatre. Master Ramsay Black is spending the school vacation at Ashburton. A very enthusiastic and well-at-tended meeting was held in the Miners’ Hall last week, to welcome the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon., P. Fraser, with his party, to Denniston. Mr. V. Anderson, the chairman, welcomed the Prime Minister on behalf of the residents, also Mr. J. Ward (chairman of the Hospital Board and County Councillor for Waimangaroa Riding). Hon. A. McLagan addressed the meeting and was followed by Hon. P. C. Webb, while Mr. Fraser was the final speaker. All the speakers had an excellent reception and the meeting gave the Prime Minister z a strong pledge of support for the Labour Party.
