BRITAIN’S SQUATTERS

LONDON, August 22. Nineteen men and women squatters were each fined £1 fox- squatting in an Army camp at Hamilton (Lanarkshire). They paid the fines, filed from the court, marched back to the huts and again set up house in the huts which they were ordered to leave, says the Daily Mail. A court official said action had to be taken because the Polish officer’ in charge of the camp had laid a complaint. The owner of a requisitioned mansion in 11 acres of ground, who is living elsewhere, said he did not mind when told that squatters had settled in, “but I would like one of my prize peaches from the garden.”
