Professor J. B. Shelley, Director of the National Broadcasting Service, is at present a visitor to Greymouth. Mr H. M. Patrick retires on superannuation next month from the position of Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department. A London cable states: Field Marshal Montgomery’s mother is seriously ill at her home in Eire, where she had a stroke shortly after celebrating her eighty-third birthday. The death has occurred of the former Supreme Court Judge, James Mcßeynolds, who ruled against the constitutionality of all the major Roosevelt Administration measures. The many friends of Mrs. J'. C. Rodden, who is at present a patient at the St. George’s Hospital, Christchurch, will be be pleased to learn that she is' making favourable progress.
