MOVES FAIL

To Bar Communists FROM N.S.W. RETURNED SOLDIERS’ LEAGUE (Rec. 9.30). SYDNEY, Aug. 23. For the third time at the N.S.W. Congress of the Returned Soldiers’ League, a move to bar Communists from the League was declared out of order. Some delegates leaped to their feet, shouted, and shook their lists’ when a red flag, embossed with the hammer, sickle and star, was thrown at Mr K. Bolton, the chairman and the State president of the League, during the Congress to-day. Mr Frank Browne was the delegate who .threw the flag. He was later censured by the Congress’. His action came after he moved a motion to suspend the standing orders so as to discuss a motion on Communism, and his' motion was defeated. “Put that among the other flags! It is all you deserve”, he said, and he left the hall, tearing the badge from his lapel as he did so.
