HOSPITAL RATING
Government Subsidy OVER £4,500 FOR GREYMOUTH Following the announcement by lon. J- O’Brien that the Government, ■ zould subsidise the hospital levy in the Greymouth district, official advice was received' by the Town Clerk, Greymouth (Mr. F. H. Den•on), yesterday, that tht sum or .'14,560 will be paid by the Hea-th Department to the Greymouth Hospital Board. The receipt of this subsidy means that instead or £15,282 5s 4d, the amount of the hospital levy payable by the council for the year 1946-47, will be reduced to £10,632 ’ss 4d, which is only £8 15s 2d more than that of the previous year. COUNTY COUNCIL SUBSIDY The Grey County Council has received advice that a subsidy of £.1950 has been granted', thus reducing the Council’s estimated levy of £6.380 to £4,430. This will mean that the County Council’s rate demand will actually be less than that for last year. OTHER GRANTS The Runanga Borough Council also received a subsidy, reducing the amount required to be collected from the ratepayers by £4OO, and in the Brunner borough, a subsidy of £250 has been received.
