WESTLAND L.R.C.

Election Campaign At the monthly meeting of the Westland Labour Representation Committee on Friday, Mr Green presided. Correspondence was received from Poerua-Inchbonnie and Kanieri Branches, asking for speakers to attend their monthly meetings. It was found impossible to arrange for a visit this evening to Inchbonnie, owing to lack of transport, but arrangements have now been made for the speakers desired to make the .trip for the next meeting—a month hence. It was resolved that Mr Kent be asked to make the trip to Kanieri on the night of the Branch meeting there.

It was notified that Mr W. Dixon is the A.S.R.S. representative to the L. Lake Brunner Branch notified that they have sent on £l5 to Head Office for the National Campaign Fund. Members expressed regret at the loss sustained by Mr F. Langstone, M. in the death of his wife. The secretary was instructed to send on a letter of condolence to the Langstone family.

It was resolved that Messrs Panther and Morris be appointed L.R.C. representatives on the Editorial Board of the “Argus" Magazine Page.

Blackball members stated the Branch membership was growing daily. A general canvass of the town was being made, and matters were well in hand for an energetic election campaign. It was "announced that Mr. Green would visit Blackball, in company with Messrs Crooks and Laing, and gave an address to Party members.

It was reported that some residents of Blackball on the north-eastern side of Harper Street are in the Buller district, but that it was not possible to do very much about the matter. Many of the electorates had like lines separating the ward areas. Hon. Miss M. Anderson, M.L.C., reported the Grey Branch was calling a meeting for the purpose of forming a Ladies’ Branch, and was further calling a meeting of the Election Committee.

It was reported that all Branches are functioning well, and interest is rising daily, particularly with the publishing of Parliamentary candidates by both sides.
