PANIC OF PEOPLE In San Domingo NEW YORK, August 10. Further earth tremors shook the Dominican Republic on Friday, following violent earthquakes and tidal waves on August 4 and Thursday, which killed 52 persons and rendered 20,000 homeless since Sunday. Tidal waves, believed to have been caused by violent earthquakes at the bottom of the Atlantic, have created widespread terror and destruction in the towns of Matanzas and Puerto Plato. The huge waves crushed dwellings instantly. (Rec. 9.30). NEW YORK, Aug. 10. There have been two new shocks', moderate in intensity, which have caused fresh anxiety in the northern provinces of San Domingo in Haiti Island. False rumours there of impending nevz earthquakes and tidal waves demoralised inhabitants, says an Associated Press correspondent at Ciudad Trujillo. Rumours' grew to such an extent that the Government threatened punishment for those spreading them. More than eighty have already been prosecuted.
