LATEST FRENCH RECORD PARIS. August 7. During a debate in the Constituent Assembly on the magistracy, the Minister of Justice (M. Tietjen) said 4783 death sentences had already been imposed for high treason end collaboration with the enemy, and 15,652 cases were pending. He added that since the liberation 1798 had been sentenced to hard labour for life, 1753 to hard labour for varying periods, and 1820 to solitary confinement. An additional 19,191 had received prison sentences.
