Indians in Natal PROTEST AT LAND BAN (Rec. 11.0) LONDON, June 25. South African police arrested at Durban, Natal, ninety-nine Indians and also one European Clergyman, who are protesting against the new law in restricting land purchases by Indians. Reuter’s Durban correspondent says: The clergyman is the Reverend Mr. Guthrie Scott, who is a sympathiser with the Indians. He refused to leave a camp the Indians established on Durban Corporation land as a demonstration against The new land law. Those arrested' include eight Indian women. Several thousand Indians earlier gathered in one of Durban city’s main squares in defiance of the City Council ban on their meeting. The demonstrators resolved to continue their passive resistance against the land law.
