U.S. PRICES CONTROL
TO CONTINUE A YEAR Senate Lifting Plan Foiled WASHINGTON, June 25. A joint committee of the Senate and the House, after a conference lasting several days to reconcile amendments to price control legislation has agreed to a full year’s extention of price control. The committee has eliminated Senate amendments which would have ended the control on meat, poultry, dairy products, petroleum and tobacco on June 30. The Bill will be sent to the Senate and the House for final approval U.S. LIVESTOCK FARMERS. HOLD BACK FOR PRICE RISE NEW YORK, June 25. A meat crisis developed here . yesterday, when half of the butcher shops in New York City closed, while the remainder had almost no meat for sale. Cne thousand delicatessen store owners decided to sell meat cnly in sandwiches, until further notice. However meat was available in most of the restaurants. The Department of Agriculture said that the meat shortage is mainly attributable to vhe growers withholding their livestock as they have been expecting the price to increase after July 1.
