DEFENCE OF BELGIUM
TREATY WITH BRITAIN DESIRED (Rec. 9.5). LONDON, June 24. A Daily Telegraph diplomatic correspondent stated: The Belgian Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee has recommended that an Anglo-Belgian security pact be negotiated. The committee expressed the view that modern weapons necessitate defence in depth, and that Britain was geographically situated in a position that enabled her to provide Belgium with a redoubt essential to a concentration of Belgian reseives of men and material.
