HITLER’S WILL
SIGNATORY ARRESTED LONDON, January 25. General Nigolaus von Below, believed to bo the last surviving witness of Hitler’s personal will, was arrested at Godesberg on January 9, reports Reuter’s correspondent at British Headquarters in Germany. Von Below, who was Hitler’s air aide-de-camp, and one of the earliest pilots of the secret German air force, was among those Nazi stalwarts who rallied to Hitler’s side for the last stand in the Chancellery bunker. Von Below told British intelligence officers that he- was not present at Hitler’s marriage ceremony, but he saw the newlyweds, with the registrar, come from a room immediately after the ceremony; Later that night lie was called into the room where he found Hitler, Goebbels, and Bormann. Hitler told him that as an old friend he would like him to sign, as one witness, his personal will. He added his signature after ’hose of Bormann and Goebbels. He knew nothing of Hitler's political will. With Hitler’s permission he escaped from Berlin a few hours before the Fuehrer’s reported suicide in an endeavour to communicate with Keitel, but he was unable to do so. Fie took the identity of a law student attending the Bonn University and hid for several months near Godesberg, where he was arrested by British security police.
