ARMY DOCTORS CANBERRA, Jan. 28 A proposal to send abroad for further study doctors who have served with the Australian forces, is being considered by the Federal Government. Selected doctors would’ be paid weekly living allowance and fees for courses. The object of the scheme which is the extension of one already operating in Australia is to enable young doctors to improve clinical knowledge by studying in world-famous hospitals and universities. Under the Rehabilitation Act ex-service doctors are entitled to refresher courses and to a living allowance while taking them, of £3 10s weekly for single and £5 10s for married doctors. PROTECTION OF EXSERVICEMEN CANBERRA, Jan. 28 Special officers have been appointed to advise ex-servicemen and women on price control problems, states the Commonwealth Prices Commissioner (Mr. McCarthy). “Some ex-servicemen who are out of touch with present conditions accept too readily the glib assurances of rapacious profiteers that prices charged are justified, he said. Officers wijl maintain liaison between the Prices Branch and ex-service-men’s organisations. The Prices Branch is co-operating with other Commonwealth authorities in examining complaints by ex-service-men of excessive prices for small businesses.
