GREEK PREMIER
ATTITUDE TO BRITISH. LONDON, January 27. A diplomatic correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” stated: M. Sofianopoulos, Greek Foreign Minister, and head of the Greek delegation to U.N.0., will not be present if and when the Security Council discusses the Russian demand for the withdrawal of British troops from Greece. Mr T. H. Aghnides, Greek Ambassador in London, will represent the Government and voice its support of British policy. A, message from Athens to-day made it clear that M. Sofianopoulos was “unable to agree with the Government’s decision to support fully the British viewpoint .on the Greek question”. A member of the Greek delegation to U.N.O. said it was untrue that M. Solianopoulos was opposed to the Government’s support of British policy. There were certain disagreements, however, between him and the Greek Government, but he had not resigned the position of Foreign Minister. “The Times” Athens correspondent recalls it was only after M. Sofianopoulos was appointed Foreign Minister in the Sofoulis Cabinet that Russia agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations with Greece. “Pravda” (Moscow) referring to Greece, says the tide of the Monarchist Fascist terror is rising even higher. GREEK CONCESSION TO JEWS ATHENS, January 26. The Greek Government has decided to waive its rights regarding property of Greek Jews who died after being deported by Germans, and left no heirs. Such property, instead of reverting to the state, will be handed over to a special trust fund, which the Government is establishing for the welfare of all remaining Jewish communities in Greece.
