Although the New Zealanders looked, and finally proved themselves, to be the better team at Cardiff Arms Park, their more penetrating back line Were able to score only one try, and that in the last fifteen minutes. Wales till then led by a penalty goal to nil. Then Sherratt, the rangy New Zealand winger, beat the defence and scored a fine try under the posts. After this the New Zealanders added six points by penalty goals. The Welsh attack probably was weakened because two of the most outstanding Welsh backs were not available, but there was a continuous roar from the packed stands, which spurred the team on to produce a rock-line defence. Against this the New Zealanders, time after time, thrust and failed. They reformed and again thrust, and again failed. The game was clean, but was desperately hard, as both teams strove for the decision on the ground where past classics had built up the most intense rivalry. The New Zealand team has now won twelve matches during the tour, and drawn two. It has scored 203 points against 72.
