("Our Own Corresoondent). Mr and Mrs Les Kenendy are here from the North Island, on a visit to Mr G. White. Mr Lionel Panting has left on return to Nelson. Air E. McEwin is visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs J. McEwin. Senior-Sergeant Cleary, of. Ashburton, has been visiting his son, Constable J. Cleary, of the local station. Messrs G. Ward and H. Parkinson are visiting Greymouth. Mr and Mrs D. Costigan have left for Cobb Valley, where they will in future reside. Mr Jim. Young, of Christchurch, is visiting Waiuta. Miss McEwin, of Wellington, is the guest-of her sister, Mrs S. Ramsden. Miss Pat Larcombe, of Greymouth, is visiting her parents. At the Miners’ Hall last Saturday evening a crowd assembled to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs R. Walker and Mr and Mrs D. Costigan, who are leaving the township. Before making presentations, Mr S. Ramsden called on Mrs E. Connors and Mrs W. Harris to present Mrs Walker and Mrs Costigan each with a beautiful bouquet of cream and red roses. Mr G. Ward presented Mr Walker and Mr Costigan each with an envelope, and spoke of the many good qualities of the departing guests, who were ever ready to help, in functions run in the township. Othei’ speakers were Mr Dick Davis and Mr Sid Ramsden. Mr Walker and Mr Costigan suitably replied. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought a very pleasant evening to p close. The music was supplied by Mrs J. Deviscovi.
