Hicks, who has A.M.P. representative at for several years, has received of transfer to Auckland, and expects' to leave some time in March. The engagement is announced of ’ Eileen Bridget, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Leo Haddock, Harihari, and William George, only son of Mr and the late Mrs George Morrish, Preston Road. Mr. D. A. Spence, Hokitika, will commence duty to-morrow on the Greymouth staff of the Rehabilitation Department. Mr. Spence s recently returned from service overseas with the R.N.Z.A.F. Mrs M. A. Noble, M.8.E., who is among those included in the list of New Year honours, is a native of Greymouth. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Les. Williams, of 6, . Thompson Street, Greymouth. Mrs Noble, in company with her husband, has been spending the Christmas and New Year holidays in Greymouth with her parents. The death occurred yesterday at Greymouth of Miss Norma Gertrude Beams, aged 17, of Threadneedle Street. She had been ill for a long time. Besides her parents she leaves two sisters, Mrs H. Wilson (Mai Mai), • , and Miss Eileen Beams (Greymouth), and two brothers, Ivan (Greymouth), and William (Westport). The funeral will take place at the Karoro Cemetery to-morrow morning, following Requiem Mass. Advice has been received that the • King has appointed the Minister of Finance (Hon. W. Nash), who is at present Acting-Prime Minister, and the High Commissioner for New .-.Zealand in London (Mr. W. J. Jordan), to be members of His Majesty’s Privy Council. Other New Zealand members of the Privy Council are the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser), the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers), and Mr. G. B. Forbes (former Prime Minister).—P'.A.
