BANK OF N.Z. BILL

PASSED BY UPPER HOUSE.

P.A. WELLINGTON, November 23. No division was called for when the Bank of New Zealand Bill passed the Legislative Council this afternoon. During the third reading debate, Hon. W.. Perry again raised the question of the position of the trustees, saying he was concerned that they, should not be put in the position of , being “shot at” by beneficiaries, with or without, cause, on account of any action they might take in exercising their right of option as to accepting cash or stock for shares. He hoped that the Minister of Finance would do something about this question. The leader, Hon. A. McLagan, said Mr Perry could rest assured that the position would be carefully examined. If there were a danger of the nature outlined, steps would be taken to meet it.
