ALLEGATIONS AGAINST POLICE CHIEF (Rec. 10.30) BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 23 Dr. Arava, a former Parliament taian. filed charges against Colonm Filomeno Velazco, Police Chief. He laid the charges at the Federal Court twenty-four hours after his return fro mexile in Montevideo. He formerly was held as a political prisoner at Buenos Aires from December 29 1943 to December 3, 1944. He shared a cell with Nazi agents who were arrested after Argentina broke off relations with the Nazis. He stated his charges were based on what he saw and heard during hm imprisonment. He accused Colone Velaczo of friendly, partial, benevolent conduct towards .imprisoned Nazi agents, whose activities he simulated and condemned. He said Velazco went to an extreme in permitting Nazis to continue operating inside as well as outsi ?® that the apparent control of tnem was a pure parody, and a means of deceiving friendly nations. Axis spie., had in the cells powerful long-wave and short-waVe radios, and pictures of Hitler They were allowed to go to bed when they chose, receiver, visits at any hour every day; had alcohol, food typewriters and all material needed for their work, a.nd also wee allower to leave prison for days.
