Over 800 Coming to N,Z,

F.A. WELLINGTON. September 21. The first, shipment containing sick and convalescing internees from the Far East is expected to arrive in New Zealand about October 4. Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer to-day said there would be approximate 1 ’; four hundred discharged in New Zealand. No information has yet been received as to the oroportion of them requiring hospital attention or convalescent care. When fh’s information is to hand, an allocation will be made to various hospitals and convalescent establishments. Tim Minister said it is intended to disembark the first draft in Auckland, and hospitals in that area would take this number. He understood that rumours concerning the ntr»iers coming to Now Zealand had been c rrulating. and he desired to emphasise that at no time had New Zealand been required to take more than a reasonable number. It was unlikely more than eight or nine hundred would be cared for in New Zealand. SYDNEY. Sentember 19. Sergeant R. O. Williams, of the Federated Malay States Volunteer Reserve, is a Now Zealander, whose mother resides in Wellington and ho was formerly on the staff of the Anglo Oriental Tin Company in Malaya. He arrived in Sydney to-dav. He lately was an inmate of the Changi prisoner of war camp, Singapore, and reached Sydney by an Australian Air Force plane from Brisbane. He \yas met oa arrival bv his wife, the New Zealand liaison officer, mother, and a representative of the Australian Rfd Cross. Mr Williams was in excellent spirits and health, despite his recent, camp experiences. After his medical examination is completed, lie will jo'n his wife at GoulbUrn, where she has been residing.
