NtW ZEALANDERS APPOINTED
PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS, Sept. 4
Two appointments from New Zealand to the British Colonial Service in Africa were announced by the Public Service Commissioner, Mr. Boyes to-night. As a result of an appeal made recently by the Governox- of Kenya for assistance in filling vacancies in the legal service of the Colony, Albert George Lowe, barrister and solicitor, Auckland, has been appointed Crown Counsel- for Kenya and E. J. Haughey, M.A., L-L.ivL, 8.C.0.M., Wellington, Crown Counsel in Tanganyika. Mr. Lowe was lor three years secretary-legal advisei’ to the Government of Tonga and (luring part of that time acted as Chief Justice of the Kingdom. Mr. Lowe enlisted in the R.N.Z.A.F. on the outbreak of war and reached the rank of Squadron Leader. He had considerable experience as Judge Advocate in court-martials, Mr. Haughey has spent all his professional life in the Public Service. At present he is Office Solicitox- to the Native Department in Wellington and has had considerable experience in handling all types of native legal problems.
