ATOMIC BOMBS

U.S. CONTROL PROPOSALS (Rec. 9.5) WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 President Truman told Congress he is making recommendations later regarding the American atom bomb and atomic energy policy. Senator Vandenberg moved in the Senate that a joint committee of six Senators and six members of the House of Representatives should fully investigate the development and control of the atom bomb. Senator McMahon, Democrat, introduced a Bill providing that the use of atomic energy shall be controlled by the Federal Government, with the' private exploitation of mis energy to be banned. TOKIO, Sept. 6

The Domei Agency said that raids on Japan killed 241,309 and wounded 313,041. Tokio lost 88,250 killed, 61,306 wounded, and 2 578,000 homeless; Hiroshima, 49,221 killed, 58,839 wounded and 359,000 homeless; Nagasaki 21,501 killed, 51.080 wounded, and 204,960 homeless.
