“Mac” (Rapahoe), queries:— (1) Has 50 feet ever been done for a hop', step, and jump in New Zealand, bv a New Zealander? (2) If so, where and when? (3) Has it ever been done in New Zealand? (4) If so, by whom, when and where?
Reply:— (1) No. (3) J. F. Metcalfe, of New South Wales, when touring New Zealand in 1934 with a team of Australian athletes, did 50 feet 1 inch in the hop, step, and jump. The best effort by a New Zealander was that of FI. K. Brainsby, of Auckland, who did 49 feet 9:1 inches in 1934—Ed.
