Mr. G. H. Lambert left yesterday for Wellington.
Mrs. J. Kroening arrived at Greymouth from Nelson, last evening.
Pilot Officer R. Clarke left for Christchurch yesterday.
Mr. A. Mullen will commence duties as porter with the Railways Department, Greymouth, on Monday. Mr. Mullen has recently been released from the Army.
Mr. P. Tangney, of the Chief Engineer’s Office, Railways Department Wellington is visiting the West Coast.
Captain William Donaldson Cameron, formerly a well-known U.S.S. Coy., master, died suddenly at Raumati on Tuesday. He was for over 20 years in command of the Well-ington-Lyttelton steamers. He retired in 1940.—P.A.
Mr F. C. Wilson, of Wanganui, has been appointed for a further term as a member of the Government Railways Appeal Board. Mr Carroll Roop Daugherty has been designated as Special Assistant .to the American Minister in New Zealand, according to a notification appearing in las': night’s Gazette.

The death has occurred’ in a private hospital at Auckland of Lady ardson, widow of the late Major General Sir George Richardson, former General Officer in charge of rhe administration of New Zealand military forces in England in the last war, and later administrator or Western Samoa from 1925 to 1928. Lady Richardson had been ill tor about two months. —'P.A.
The death of Mrs. Ida Motftagu, aged’ 76, of Chesterfield, occurred at the Westland Hospital yesterday. Born at Paroa, Mrs. Montagu had lived at Chesterfield for the past 3'J years. Her husband predeceased ner in 1935. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. W. Hawker (Christchurch); two sons, George (Hokitika), and John (Kaiapoi).; also one sister, Mrs. J. Greengrass (Greymouth) and two brothers, Messrs Gardiner Wilson (Christchurch) and . Ernest Wilson (Greymouth).
The death has occurred at Taupo of a leading Maori chief, Te Konui Taringa, a close relative of the paramount chief of Ngati-Tuwharetoa, Te Heuheu VII. Te Konui, who was 64 was the son of Wenerata, only daughter of Iwikau Te Heuheu, and consequently the grandson of the third Te Heuheu. Iwikau was for many years war leader of Ngati-Tuwhare-toa, and played a prominent part in the establishment of the Maori Land League.
