A party of returned servicemen are arriving in Greymouth to-day. A special railcar is leaving Christchurch at 10 o’clock, this morning and is expected at Greymouth at 2.40 p.m. Westport and north men will come to Greymouth and connect with the 3.25 railcar for Westport. Men for south of Greymouth and Hokitika will proceed in the 4.45 p.m. Hokitika train. Shopping areas which have been set aside in Cobden under the Town Planning Scheme for the Greymouth Borough were defined at last evening’s meeting of the Borough Council by the chairman of the Town Planning Committee (Cr F. F. Boustridge). Answering a question by Cr J. E. Stokes, he said that those premises which were already business places on both sides of Bright Street between Taylor and’ Sturge Streets were included in one area. He thought the council might favourable consider applications to convert house properties into business premises in this area. A second area had been set. aside at the corner of Hall and Ward Street, near the Holland Settlement. This was the nearest that could be got to the Holland Settlement, in which shops were not at present permitted. On the north-west corner of Hall Street an area had been set aside which might provide room for two shops, and probably there would be room for another two shops on the opposite corner If more were required he thought a ' further small section in Hail Street might be allocated.
