WATAROA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent J Rev. Father O’Gorman has left On his visit to the southern end of ms parish. He will be shown around the south by Mr. J. Conradsen of the Public Works Department. Mr. Steel, Dalgety and. Co., was a recent visitor to the district. During his visit he gave a demonstration with the latest type of flame thrower for destroying noxious weeds. A large number of settlers witnessed the demonstration, and as a result, several orders have been placed for the machine. Application has been made tor a substantial grant for protection works, to stop the overflow of tne Wataroa River, which threatens danger to the settlement. Farmers in the district are at present making good money out ot totara which has been on their property for years. This is being split into fencing posts, for which there is a good, demand.
