Founder of Greek E.L.A.S. KILLED WITH OTHER LEADERS (Rec. 11.20) LONDON, June 19 The “Daily Telegraph’s Athens correspondent states: A notorious Greek, named Velouchiotis, one of the E.L.A.S. leaders was killed on Friday last. He was a human monster who was credibly' accused of having killed more Greeks than the Germans themselves killed. He was forty-two years old. Velouchiotis was repeaedly accused ■of crucifying his enemies, after having first beaten them and salted their feet He nad a personal bodyguard of forty, all of whom were black bearded like himself He was discredited last week bv the Greek Communist Party. ' The Greek Ministry of Information in Athens announced that Velouchiotis was killed on Friday in a mountain engagement near Arta. Four others of the E.L.A.S. leaders were also killed. One was captured. Velouchiotis himself founded the E.L.A.S. in 1942. tie refused to hand over arms under the agreement ending the Greek civil war last February'. His head will be publicly exposed at Trikkala, the former headquarters of the EL.A.S. forces.
