MAN DROWNED IN LAGOON.
TIMARU, May 13. Martin Ross Bennett, aged 29, a lorry driver, of Seadown Road, Washdyke. was drowned at Normanby Flat, about four miles from Timaru, today,. He went into a lagoon to fetch a swan, and soon got out of his depth. His plight was noticed by Mr Stanley E. Cantwell, who with Mr Thomas Simmons and others, went to Bennett’s assistance. Artificial respiration was tried, but he did not respond. _________________
