STATE PURCHASE OPPOSED. FA ■ CHRISTCHURCH, May 2. After an amendment urging clients to withdraw deposits, to close current accounts, to refuse to accept negotiable instruments drawn on the bank, and to demand legal tender, had been rejected, a motion of protest setting out the reasons against the acquisition by the State, of private shareholding of the Bank of New Zealand was carried unanimously., at a meeting convened by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. The attendance was about 250.
