WEDDING
THORBURN—FOSTER. The Rev. P. Kirkham officiated on Saturday' last at Holy Trinity Church. Greymouth, at the wedding of Gladys, second daughter of Mrs T. C. Foster, of Christchurch, and Noel, only son of Mr and Mrs L. Thorburn, of Palmerston North. During the service Mesdames Thurlow and Mclntosh, aunts of the bride, sang, “I’ll Walk Beside You”. The bride wore a gown of ivory satin cut in 19th century style. The Circular train fell from the shoulder line and was finished with a large lovers’ knot. The veil formed a second train, and was held in place by, four gardenias. She wore a triple string of pearls and carried a shower bouquet. The bride was attended by her sisters, Lynn and Colyn, who wore Victorian gowns with large picture hats and carried shower "posies. Dayle Mclntosh, niece of the bride, Who was frocked on similar lines to the bridesmaids, completed th« bridal party. Mr Ross Butters was best man, and Mr Viv Hansen groomsman. A reception was held at Herb Moore’s. Mrs Foster, mother of the bride, wore a black model two-piece suit of wool georgette embossed with moss green, and Mrs Thorburn, mother of the bridegroom, wore a model frock of cornflour blue marocain with navy accessories. During the reception opportunity was taken to welcome home Sergeant Bryce Marshall, who has returned from overseas after four and a-half years’ service. Mr and Mrs Thorburn left by the rail-car, the bride wearing a tweed ensemble finished with moss green accessories and carrying a skunk fur cape.
