SMALLER WOOL CLIP. CANBERRA, April. 19. Commonwealth officials estimate that Australian wool growers are likely to lose £16,000.000 in the 194546 season because of the drought in the pastoral area. They expect the 1945-16 wool clip to be 1,800,000 bales lower than the record clip of 3,770,000 bales in 1943-44. The present British buying price of wool is 15.543 pence per lb. The decline in Australia’s wool production in the last two seasons is probably the steepest in the history of the industry. The main reasons for the decline have been the heavy shrinkage in flocks and the light clips caused by drought.
