WEDDING

AYNSLEY—BUCHANAN A very pretty and popular wedding was celebrated at the Church of the Holy Nativity, Blackball, on Monday, April 9. the contracting parties being Justina Aynsley 2nd daughter of Mr and Mrs A. M. Aynsley, of Atarau, and Kerr Buchanan, second son of Mrs E. Buchanan, Stafford Street, Blackball. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. M. Clarke, o. Ahaura. Miss Mary. Aynsley, sister of the bride was bridesmaid, while Mr Robert C. Buchanan the bridegroom’s brother performed the duties of best man. Mr. A. Knowles presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father was dressed in an oyster satin gown, cut on princess lines and buttoned down the back to the waistline. The back fell to form a train, which was beautifully embroidered. A tulle veil (kindly lent by her sister, Mrs S. Naylor) was held in place bv a coronet of lily of the valley. She carried a bouquet of white Autumn flowers and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Mary Aynsley, wore a dress of pink spotted taffeta, cut on slim fitting lines, and finished with a small Peter Pan collar and buttoned down the front, to the waist line. She wore a pink shoulder length veil and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. On leaving the church, Mr C. Aynsley piped them to their waiting car to the tune, “I loe nae a laddie but one.” At the reception, which was held later at the home of the bride’s parents, Atarau, the bride’s mother received her guests in a navy dress, with accessories to match, and wore a shoulder spray of yellow begonias, while the bridegroom’s mother also wore a navy dress, with accessories to match, and wore a spray of red begonias and maiden-hair fern. The reception (in the absence of the minister) was presided over by Mr R. Clark, uncle of the bridegroom, who expressed the pleasure they all felt at being present on this auspicious occasion. The usual toasts were honoured, while the following rendered items during the. afternoon; Miss D. Schaefer, ‘Til Walk Beside You”; Miss Phillis Walker, “Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes”; Mrs J. Lindstrum, “Annie Laurie”; Mrs M. Christie, “Shamus O’Brien”; and Mr W. Liddell, “The Mountains of Mourne”. AU items were well received, and met with well merited applause. Later the bridal party left for Greymouth. They will reside in Blackball in the future.
